Arvada Spanish Academy Mission

Arvada Spanish Academy

Construction of the Colorado Central Railroad led to Arvada’s development during the early 1870’s, shortly after the height of the Gold Rush. Most of the city’s resources are agricultural, which is why at one time Arvada claimed itself as ‘the celery capital of the world’. According to the 2000 US Census, about 10,000 of Arvada’s 100,000 residents identify themselves as Hispanic or Latino.

For young teens in Arvada, La Teen Magazine is a good resource for staying up-to-date and informed regarding the latest happenings of the area’s Hispanic culture. Family Arts Day at the Arvada Center is a great way to spend a day learning and having fun with your young child.

With the wealth of resources available online and throughout Arvada’s local community, it has never been easier for parents to get their children started on the path to discovering a new culture and language.

There are many reasons for a parent to help their child develop bilingualism from a young age. What are some of yours? What effect will bilingualism have on your child’s success? Please take a moment and let us know by filling out the feedback form located on the right of the page.
